In this article, we'll cover importing your chart of accounts for easy setup while getting your firm set up with MyCase Accounting. Follow the steps below to migrate your data successfully.
To successfully import your accounts, please take the time to read the following:
When you import a chart of accounts, it will create an account not already a part of your firm's required accounts:
Account Receivable
Accounts Payable
Operating Account
Trust Account
Trust Account - Trust Liability
Revenue
You can import a maximum of 1000 rows, including the column header. If you've got more than 999 accounts, you can add other accounts manually.
When including your balances, these will overwrite any balance you have previously entered. If you don’t want to overwrite them or are unsure, leave the Balance column in the import file blank.
Prepare the MyCase Chart of Account Template
To successfully migrate your chart of accounts, you'll need to use MyCase's import template. You can access this by logging in and completing the initial onboarding steps.
Once downloaded, open the file and complete all of the required fields.

Confirm your Opening Balances
After you finalize your accounts' setup or import, you'll be prompted to review and confirm the Opening Balances for your accounts. If you imported these balances along with your accounts via a .csv file, you'll find all the numbers listed for each account.
Once you've confirmed or entered all of the opening balances for your account your Chart of Account import is complete!
