IQ Client Message Drafting

Learn how to use 8am IQ Case Assistant to draft, refine, and send client portal updates directly from your case workflows.

The 8am IQ Client Message Drafting tool helps you quickly create and send messages to clients through the client portal. By leveraging AI to pull in relevant case and contact details, this feature eliminates the need to draft messages from scratch, freeing up your time for higher-value legal work.

Note: This feature is currently in Beta. General Availability is to be determined.

How It Works

When you need to contact a client, 8am IQ generates a customized draft based on your instructions. You maintain full control and can always review or edit the draft before sending. You can access the drafting tool via the 8am IQ Case Assistant button or the Communications tab on the Case Overview page.

Option 1: Using 8am IQ Case Assistant (click the link to view demo)

  1. In the top right corner of the Case Details page, click the 8am IQ button.

  2. If you are an existing Case Assistant user, click the pencil icon to start a new chat. (New users can skip this step).

  3. From the Suggested Prompts list, select "Send a client update message."

  4. Enter the details you want included, and 8am IQ will draft your message.

  5. Review and edit the draft as needed.

Tip: You can use the 8am IQ Writing Assistant to improve tone, check spelling, or translate the message into Spanish or Arabic.

  6. Click Send message, or choose Send + add time entry if you need to log your time. The client will receive the message via the activated Client Portal.

Option 2: Using the Case Overview Page (click the link to view demo)

  1. Navigate to the specific Case (e.g., Curran vs Morganti) and open the new message window. Ensure the correct case is selected in the "Case link" dropdown.

  2. Select your intended recipients and enter a clear Subject line (e.g., "Call reminder").

  3. In the 8am IQ prompt bar, type brief instructions detailing what you want the message to say (e.g., "Draft an update to Patricia to remind her of our call at 2:00p ET tomorrow").

  4. Press Enter or click the Generate button (upward arrow). Review the AI-generated text and make any necessary manual edits.

  5. Once satisfied, click Send message to dispatch it, or Send + add time entry to send the update and log billable time. To start over, click Discard draft.
