Overview

The Non-Trust Retainer & Credit Account Summary Report provides a critical snapshot of funds available on a case, including remaining non-trust retainers and any credit balances. This report is essential for ensuring billing accuracy, confirming available funds for future invoices, and maintaining transparency with clients by preventing unused credits from being overlooked.

What the Report Helps You Do

  • View remaining retainer on a case

    • Confirm the firm has funds available to apply to future client invoices. Identify low retainers.

  • Show credit balances currently available

    • Apply credits (overpayments, manual adjustments) correctly so clients aren’t over-billed.

  • Support billing accuracy and transparency

    • Prevent leaving unused credits sitting on a case.

How to Run the Report

Here’s how to pull the report in just a few clicks:

  1. Click the Reports tab in the left navigation pane.

  2. From the Financial reports category, select Non-Trust Retainer & Credit Account Activity.

  3. In the top-right corner, click Customize report.

    • You can customize your report by:

      1. Filtering the data fields.

      2. Adding/removing and reorganizing the columns in the report.

      3. Sorting the rows based on data type.

      4. Calculating the total of each data type.

4. Once you have customized the report to fit your needs, click Run report.

  1. Click More to:

    1. Print report

    2. Export as CSV

    3. Export as PDF

    4. Refresh data
