Here are two use cases for the Consultation Fee Revenue Report, including how you could customize the report for each scenario:

1. Valuing Firm Time and Tracking Revenue

Use Case: The report helps ensure your firm is fairly compensated for initial consultations by providing a clear view of clients who have paid their consultation fees versus those who have not. This offers a direct measure of revenue generated during the intake process.

Filtering Suggestions:

  • Calculate the total of the 'Amount billed' and 'Amount collected' data fields to see the overall revenue from consultation fees.

  • Reorganize the columns to easily compare the 'Amount billed' and 'Amount collected' for each lead.

2. Optimizing Intake Strategy

Use Case: By tracking consultation fees and identifying trends, your firm can make data-driven decisions to refine the intake strategy, such as adjusting fee structures or focusing marketing efforts on referral sources that bring in more paying leads.

Filtering Suggestions:

  • Group the report by Referral source or Practice area to see which lead-generating channels or types of cases are most likely to result in paid consultation fees.

  • Filter the data by Date added to analyze trends over a specific time period (e.g., quarterly or year-over-year).

  • Sort the rows by 'Amount billed' or 'Amount collected' to quickly identify the highest-value leads.


How to Run a Consultation Fee Revenue Report

Here’s how to pull the report in just a few clicks:

  1. Click the Reports tab.

  2. Under the Leads reports sub-tab, select Consultation fee revenue.

  3. The first time you start running a consultation fee revenue report, you'll see the options to Run default report or Customize.

    1. If you opt to customize, you can:

      1. Filter the data fields.

      2. Reorganize the report columns.

      3. Sort the rows based on data type.

      4. Group by practice area, referral source, and assigned user.

      5. Calculate the total of each data type selected.

4. Once you have customized the report to fit your needs, click Run report.


What you’ll see:

The report breaks down consultation fees based on fees billed and fees collected and includes the criteria you select during customization. In the example below, the user selected the Lead, Practice area, Referral source and Amount billed columns and filtered the report by Date added (the timeframe the leads were added to the system & billed consultation fees).


Export Your Report

  1. Click the Export to download the report as a PDF or CSV.

  2. Click the Printer icon to print your report.
